Herbert W. Franke served as head of the supervisory board of Programmed Art e.V. from its founding in November 1976 until his death in 2022.
In his honor, an annual event will be held, during which the Sergius Both Award will be presented for an outstanding contribution to the field of programmed art.

The first Sergius Both Award was given at AMERIKA ART to Glyph Graves. There is an interview with Glyh Graves.
